Remote Guidelines 10/19/20-5/28/21

All students will continue with their current attendance choice (traditional or remote) for the remainder of the 1st 9 weeks until the end of the grading period on October 2, 2020.

Students and their families have two options concerning school attendance for the remainder of the year beginning at the start of the 2nd 9 Weeks Grading Period (10/19/20-5/28/21):

  1. Commit the Traditional Learning environment at the student’s school for the remainder of the year.
  2. Commit to the Remote Learning environment at the student’s school for the remainder of the year.

If families decide to commit to or remain in the Traditional Learning environment, their student(s) will report to school as usual on 10/19/20. No forms need to be completed by the family.

If families decide to commit to or remain in the Remote Learning environment, families MUST complete the PCSS 2020-21 (Remainder of Year) Remote-Learner Responsibility Agreement found on the District’s website (www.pcsstn.com).

The window for families to complete the Remainder of the Year Agreement will be between 9/2/20 and 9/18/20. Only those families/students who have completed a (Remainder of Year) Remote-Learner Responsibility Agreement Form by the 9/18/20 deadline will be allowed to participate in Remote Learning starting on 10/19/20.

All students wishing to participate in Remote Learning going forward MUST have a completed Remainder of the Year Remote Agreement Form regardless of whether or not they completed a previous Remote Learning Responsibility Agreement to begin the year.

Guidelines for Remote Learning for the Remainder of the Year include:

  1. The Remainder of Year Commitment- the students and the families understand that there will be no other window of choice to make a change of attendance for the rest of the 2020-21 school year.
  2. IEP/504/ESL program services will continue, as indicated in the student’s plan.
  3. Parents shall commit that students will follow acceptable Attendance practices to comply with compulsory attendance laws.
  4. Parents will commit that their students practice acceptable Time-On-Task behaviors. Time-on-task behaviors include participating in classes, turning in assigned work/tests, and maintaining appropriate online actions.
  5. Parents of Athletes and those participating in ExtraCurricular activities may choose the Remote option for their child. The student must abide by the year-long commitment regardless of the end of the sports season or completion of extracurricular events.

Students with a diagnosed medical condition preventing them from either school-based attendance or remote attendance may be eligible for instructional service through a Homebound educational plan, which is not a part of the Remote-Learner policy.
