School Meal Availability During Government Shutdown

Posted Date: 10/30/25 (6:28 PM)

As the federal government shutdown continues, we want to reassure families that school meals will remain available for all students in Putnam County Schools.

The delay in SNAP benefits will not impact children’s eligibility for free school meals. Students who currently receive free or reduced-price meals will continue to do so without interruption.

We also understand that some families may be experiencing financial hardship due to furloughs, loss of federal contract work, or job loss. If your family’s situation has changed, we encourage you to complete a new meal application to see if your student qualifies for free or reduced-price meals.

Please remember that breakfast is available to all students at no charge in every Putnam County school. In addition, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools continue to offer free lunch for all students.

Your child’s access to healthy school meals remains a priority for us. For more information or to complete a meal application, please visit https://www.pcsstn.com/50025_3 or contact Jennifer Mitchell, Program Supervisor, at (931) 525-4707, or jennifer.mitchell@pcsstn.com
