• The Canon Print Centers ("Copiers") save trees by printing two-sided. But sometimes you need to print one sided. Here's how.

With your print dialog box open:
The print expanded dialog has appeared. The windows is titled Print. Miscellaneous text on the screen that is there but unrelated to why this picture is here: Printer: Canon Print Center Presets: Default Settings Copies:1 Pages:All From: 1 to: 1 Paper Size: US Letter 8.50 by 11.00 inches Orientation: Scale: 100% Layout Pages per Sheet: 1 Layout Direction: Border: None Two-Side: Off Reverse page orientation Flip horizontally PDF Hide Details Cancel Print

If your print dialog is small, it is collapsed. To expand it, click the up and down arrows past the printer selected.
Now navigate to the middle of the screen and change the Layout options to the Finishing options.

The expanded print dialog window. An arrow points to the middle of the dialog where the layout option is. Click that to change it to finishing. Miscellaneous text on the screen that is there but unrelated to why this picture is here: The window is titled Print. Printer: Canon Print Center Presets: Default Settings Copies:1 Pages:All From: 1 to: 1 Paper Size: US Letter 8.50 by 11.00 inches Orientation: Scale: 100% Layout Pages per Sheet: 1 Layout Direction: Border: None Two-Side: Off Reverse page orientation Flip horizontally PDF Hide Details Cancel

On the finishing screen, you should see it set to two-sided printing:

The expanded print dialog window with the finishing options. An arrow points to Print Style which is set to 2-sided Printing. Click that to change it to finishing. Text on the screen from top to bottom: Print Printer: Canon Print Center Presets: Default Settings Copies: 1 Pages: All From:1 to: 1 Paper Size: US Letter 8.50 by 11.00 inches Orientation: Scale: 100% Finishing Print Style: Booklet… 2-sided Printing Binding Location: Long Edge (Left) Gutter… Misc. Finishing Modes… Finishing Details… ? PDF Hide Details Cancel Print

and toggle it to 1-sided printing:
Same screen as last time, but now the print style is 1-sided Printing. The expanded print dialog window with the finishing options. Text on the screen from top to bottom: Print Printer: Canon Print Center Presets: Default Settings Copies: 1 Pages: All From:1 to: 1 Paper Size: US Letter 8.50 by 11.00 inches Orientation: Scale: 100% Finishing Print Style: Booklet… 1-sided Printing Binding Location: Long Edge (Left) Gutter… Misc. Finishing Modes… Finishing Details… ? PDF Hide Details Cancel Print

Now unless you want to do this every time you need to print one-sided, do not press that blue print button in the lower right corner. Let's save this as a preset, so we can quickly toggle to it without going through all this rigmarole.

At the top, under presets (second setting from the top), click the up and down arrow

Same screen as last time, but now the arrow points to the presets which indicates Default settings and there is an up and down arrow at the end of that input area. PDF

Click on Save current Settings as Preset... (the third option down):
Same screen as last time, but now the arrow points to the window that has expanded. While there are options of Default settings, Last Used Settings, and Show Presets, the arrow point to the third option down Save Current Settings As Preset. PDF

You can call it what you like, but make it something that will remind you that this preset prints only on one side of the paper. I chose "Print Single Sided"

Same screen as last time, but now the Presets: setting says "Print Single Sided", which is what I named my new preset. The expanded print dialog window with the finishing options. Text on the screen from top to bottom: Print Printer: Canon Print Center Presets: Default Settings Copies: 1 Pages: All From:1 to: 1 Paper Size: US Letter 8.50 by 11.00 inches Orientation: Scale: 100% Finishing Print Style: Booklet… 1-sided Printing Binding Location: Long Edge (Left) Gutter… Misc. Finishing Modes… Finishing Details… ? PDF Hide Details Cancel Print

    Now press that print button.

You No Longer Have To Do This Every Time You Print

From now on, when you print, simply toggle the Presets: (second field from the top, directly below the Printer selected) to "Print Single Sided" and then press the print button.
