Corby King, Director of Schools

Good afternoon, PCSS families!

Welcome back from Fall Break! I hope you enjoyed the two weeks and have gotten back into the swing of things this week.

Teachers of the Year

Congratulations to the 2026-2027 Putnam County Schools Teachers of the Year! These outstanding educators have been selected by their schools and will now be in the running to be named the PCSS Elementary, Middle School, and High School Teachers of the Year this November. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the incredible impact you make on our students every day. You can view the complete list of winners on our PCSS Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pcsstn.

Victorious Volleyball

Congratulations to the Upperman Middle School and Upperman High School volleyball teams. The Yellow Jackets advanced all the way to the state championship game of the TSSAA Middle School Class AA Girls Volleyball State Tournament. The Lady Bees won the district and region tournaments and wrapped up their season at the 2025 TSSAA Class AA State Tournament. We are #PCSSProud of you ladies!

Report Cards

Report cards were sent home on Thursday. Please take some time to review your student’s progress and celebrate their hard work this first nine weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher. Kindergarten and First Grade parents can view this video https://youtu.be/TmYJpmRR3-k?si=glQIhTb2pYRuEh28 about Standards-Based Report Cards. Let’s keep working together for a great school year!

Running to State

Wishing the best of luck to the Junior Cavs Cross Country teams, who are running in the KYA Tennessee State Elementary and Middle School Cross Country Championships at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville tomorrow. The boys won first place, and the girls captured second place in the recent regional qualifier to advance to the state tournament. Good Luck, Junior Cavs!

Appreciating Custodians

Earlier in the week, we celebrated our incredible custodians across Putnam County Schools with the UTrust Custodian Appreciation Day. We certainly appreciate their hard work, dedication, and care in keeping our schools clean, safe, and welcoming every single day. Thank you!

ACT Senior Retake

Each high school will provide the ACT "Senior Retake" within the October 28 - November 7 testing window. We are encouraged by the hard work demonstrated by our seniors this school year and look forward to celebrating their score improvements. You can find more information regarding ACT and enhancements for the 2025-2026 school year at www.act.org or by clicking the following link (Here). You can find more information regarding testing programs on the Putnam County Schools data and testing webpage or by clicking the following link (Here).

TISA Accountability Report Survey

Thank you to all who have completed our TISA Accountability Report Survey. If you have not had the opportunity to provide feedback, the survey will remain open until October 27. Putnam County School System’s academic strategy is driven by the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA), a student-centered funding model. Our district's achievements are a testament to the daily dedication of our educators and students. We are seeing substantial gains in many key areas, and through this commitment, we succeed. Building on this success, we recognize and plan for areas requiring ongoing improvement. We invite you to review our TISA Accountability Report (linked in the survey below) and share your ideas for better supporting student achievement and helping us meet our goals. Link to Survey
