At just nine years old, Patrick McCaleb is already building an impressive legacy on the wrestling mat. A fourth-grader at Park View Elementary, Patrick is featured in the Putnam County School System’s Student Spotlight, where he shares his journey, achievements, and future ambitions in sports and academics.

Patrick’s wrestling path began close to home. Introduced to the sport by his father, a former high school wrestler, Patrick found his calling on the mat. Though he spent time playing football—winning two Super Bowl championships with his team—and soccer, wrestling quickly became his favorite sport.

What makes wrestling special for Patrick is its inherent fairness. "It's fair because they're your size and your same weight," Patrick explained, highlighting how the sport pairs athletes evenly.

With 94 career wins, 45 losses, and an impressive 48 pins, Patrick’s dedication has yielded major tournament wins. Draped in medals, Patrick proudly showcased several key highlights:

• First Tournament: Took first place at the "Rabbit Tournament."
• Regional Success: Captured first place at Regionals last year by pinning every opponent in his weight class—most in record time—and secured third place at Regionals this year.
• State & National Achievements: Placed second at the State Championship last year and claimed first place at the "Bootleggers Nationals."

His ambition doesn't stop there. Patrick is heading to Indiana for a National Duals tournament, with his sights set on becoming a national champion and eventually competing in the Olympics.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Patrick excels in the classroom. His favorite subject is math, which he views through a creative lens. "I like that it’s like a game to me," Patrick shared.

As he prepares to transition to Prescott Middle School next year, Patrick plans to continue wrestling through middle school, high school, and beyond, proving that focus and determination can lead to success both on and off the mat.
