Classlink - No Camera Detected Issue
Sometimes ClassLink and your Chromebook do not communicate. ClassLink will tell you that the camera is not detected. Then you send the Chromebook off to technology to get the camera fixed, but we tell you the camera is fine. ClassLink and ChromeOS sometimes fail to work together. There are two ways to fix this.
The issue is likely either with ClassLink or ChromeOS.
The only fix we have for this is option 1 or 2 above.
AUDIO TRANSCRIPT: (0:00) Sometimes when you try to log into Classlink, (0:05) it will tell you that no camera was detected. (0:10) However, I'm about to show you the camera's there. (0:15) It's not seeing it. (0:17) Now one way to get around this is to simply (0:22) enter your Google account information. (0:25) This is typing in your username and password, (0:28) but the people that are using this are usually very young and they just hold up (0:34) a card and it's got their information on it and it gets them logged in. (0:39) I'm going to reach up here and press the escape key. (0:42) Now the escape key makes this go to a basically sleep page where it says sign (0:50) into your Chromebook and I can either hit the space bar or the track pad. (0:57) It doesn't really matter which one. (0:59) It'll wake it up and it may say didn't find it. (1:03) And then I hit the escape key and I'll wait a few seconds just to give it time (1:09) and press a key to come back and still no camera seen. (1:16) Typically this takes about five tries to get this to detect the camera. (1:23) It'll probably prove me wrong, (1:29) but usually after a few of these it'll finally go, (1:34) "Oh yes, I've got a camera." (1:37) And right there you can see the quick card camera is working. (1:43) It's not a hardware fault. (1:46) It's something going on between ClassLink and Google Chrome where it's not (1:51) reading the camera, but the camera does exist. (1:56) Again, if you want to just enter your Google account information. (2:01) So let me show you what that looks like. (2:03) I'm going to grab the mouse and click right here and then this is just a normal (2:12) sign into your Chromebook screen. You type in, (2:16) type out and when you go back, (2:19) it tends to fix the problem, (2:23) but you have to be in there. (2:27) The five sleep wake up cycles seems to fix the quick card.
