Training Video

Before training starts, you will need some files :https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18lzW53Nj9mMPSkVEOc732UweWvs3SE-A?usp=drive_link

You’re welcome to download any of the files, but the three we will use are a picture, a PDF, and a video:

  • BookShelf.jpeg
  • Jere Whitson Elementary School Improvement Plan.pdf
  • PUTSHOTS.mp4

You might want to grab a copy of the PDF entitled Webmaster SmartSites Guide.pdf from that folder, too.

Which Web Browser Should You Use?

Safari is the worst choice. Firefox will sometime not let you log in. It’s hit or miss when it works.

Chrome had issues, but Google has added a memory performance option that makes it usable. If you are on Chrome 130, turn on the memory saver (Chrome menu, then click on Settings). On the left side of the Settings window, you should see Performance as about the fourth option down. Click Performance. In the middle of the screen there is a Memory section. If the button is gray, toggle it on. Under Memory, choose Maximum.

A screenshot of Chrome's Memory Saver settings, with options for Moderate, Balanced (recommended), and Maximum memory savings.

Do you have to make this change? No. But it you want the least issues with your computer bogging down, I would.

Another option is to use Microsoft Edge on macOS has been the most reliable for me. How to get it: use Self Service. Click on the install of Microsoft Edge. When it finishes, then use the Microsoft Edge in my dock to add it to your dock. If this seems scary, use the Google Drive link above, and look at the video entitled “Using Self Service To install Microsoft Edge.mp4”.

Note: Edge has a section in its settings called System and Performance. I didn’t have to make any changes to Edge.

Please note: the videos is purposefully broken up so that if you want a refresher on a given section, you don’t have to watch all of it, just the bit you need.
